Sweden PM Lofven loses no-confidence vote, toppling government

Now sweden's government has toppled  after prime minister stefan leffen  has lost a no-confidence vote the motion  was passed with the majority of 181  members  in the 349th seat parliament now this  makes him the first premier to lose the  no confidence motion  this smell means two things for sweden  either prime minister leffen  will have to resign or he can trigger  snap elections in the nordic country  the political crisis was triggered by a  project  still in its preliminary stage it aims  to reform the country's  rent control system it opens the door  for landlords to freely  set rents for newly constructed  apartments  now the left says that the proposal is  at odds with the swedish social model  and a threat to tenants the fans  government took control in 2019 after  months of political turmoil  with the 2018 election being highly  inconclusive  his shaky minority coalition with the  green party was based on support from  two small center-right parties and the  left party  now the nationalist sweden democrats had  seized the chance to call the vote last  week  this after the formerly communist left  party withdrew its support for the  centre-left government  it is now the speaker of parliament's  responsibility to open negotiations with  parties to find a new prime minister  a new government or a caretaker regime  would only set until a general election  the next elections in the country are  scheduled for september 2022  the government now has one week to  decide we will speak to our partner  parties  we will in different constellations now  contemplate  which way to move forward regardless of  what happens now  my party and myself will together with  others  be available to shoulder the  responsibility to lead the country  my primary focus has always been is  and will always be to do what is best  for sweden  now international yoga day is marked  every year on the 20th.
