Set to lift lockdown restrictions by July 19th, says PM Boris Johnson

British prime minister boris johnson  has said that he is very confident about  lifting remaining covert restrictions by  19th of july  that is the new target date the british  prime minister's announcement comes  based on recent data of coronavirus  spread in the united kingdom  johnson said that this plan saw july  19th as the attempts date for  social restrictions that have altered  the way of life for people since the  beginning of the pandemic  we are i'm very confident that we'll be  able to go through with  uh step four of the of the road map uh  on the timetable that uh i've set out  with treating  uh july the 19th as i've said as a  terminus date i think that's  uh that that's certainly what the data  continues to  indicate now the united kingdom's june  21st plan to lift all coverage  restrictions was pushed ahead by four  weeks to july 19th  this as the delta variant continued to  wreak havoc in days after johnson's  former aide  dominique cummings shared conversations  where the prime minister allegedly  called health secretary matt hancock  totally hopeless  boris johnson is clarified saying that  he has complete confidence  in hancock i have complete confidence in  uh matt and indeed the uh all of the  government who've been uh dealing with  covered throughout the pandemic and i  think that  uh when you look at the vaccine rollout  uh that has been delivered  by the nhs it is absolutely outstanding  and i would just remind you that uh  today  uh under the leadership of of ma  and the nhs uh where now we've now done  i think 80 percent of  adults in this country have had a first  jab and we're now asking  uh 18 year olds uh to come forward so  we're making huge huge progress and  that's down to  the work of the nhs and with with matt  at the top of it  boris johnson also said that he would  look to work with the uefa over the  planned euro 2020 final in july  which is scheduled to be held in  london's wembley stadium  johnson reiterated that public health  will remain a top priority  now uefa has said that it has a  contingency plan to replace the venue  from wimbley unless britain agrees to  exempt 10-day quarantine rules  for foreign fans we'll do what we have  to do to  uh to keep the country safe from from  cover that's obviously going to be  our priority uh and uh you know we'll be  talking to  to ua for about what they uh what they  want and and see if we can make some  some sensible accommodations but the  priority obviously has to be  has to be public health.
