Iran Presidential Election: Presidential candidates hold third televised debate




Iran held its third and final  presidential debate on saturday with  canadians discussing more openly about  the country's 2015 nuclear deal with the  world powers  and the united states sanctions as well  the country's leading hardline  presidential candidate ibrahim resi  voiced support for the 2015 nuclear  accord during the televised event  speaking at the debate reci said that  iran needs strong  governments to effectively implement the  nuclear deal  and if elected his government will  immediately return to the accord  band  iran's reformist candidate abdullah  hamathi  meanwhile warned on saturday that a win  for his ultra  conservative rivals in the june 18  presidential election  would result in the country facing more  sanctions from the u.s  former u.s president donald trump left  the deal in 2018 and reimposed heavy  economic sanctions on iran  that slashed iran's oil exports iran  retaliated by violating limits imposed  under the accord on its nuclear program  talks are underway between iran and six  world powers to revive the deal and  bring it back  and bring back the u.s to the agreement  meanwhile the deal has been approved  by the supreme leader adal ali khamenei  who has the last say  in all matters of the islamic republic  hardline judiciary chief ibrahim resi is  currently the front runner in the june  18 presidential polls he is a close ally  of iran's supreme leader  this election is likely to reinforce the  authority of the supreme leader  ayatollah ali khamenei and boost his  whole domestically  water turnout is expected to be low due  to the ongoing corporate 19 scare and  the widespread public anger over the  economic crisis in the country  according to recent surveys around 41  percent of iran's over 59 million  eligible voters  are likely to cast their votes this time  iranians will elect a successor to  president hassan rouhani  on the 18th of june.
